April 2017 Featured Event: Star Wars Celebration

Our pick for Greater Orlando’s top event in April

JUST IN TIME FOR THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY of its namesake film, Star Wars Celebration returns to Orlando on April 13-16, marking the first time the convention has been held here since 2012.

Billed as the ultimate fan experience for the famous galaxy far, far away, Celebration will give attendees the chance to see and potentially meet many beloved actors from the films, including Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Paul Blake (Greedo), Warwick Davis (Wicket W. Warrick) and many others. Rian Johnson, director of the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will also be on hand, as well as numerous other behind-the-scenes talent, including Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm’s creative president and executive creative director.

As with previous Celebrations, this outing will also include a variety of special events, such as an art show and a cosplay contest, plus fan panels, prop displays, gaming demonstrations, a pin-trading program and much more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site.

Although adult four-day passes were sold out by press time, child four-day and adult/child single-day tickets are still available. Single-day tickets are $65-$85 for adults and $35-$43 for children, with the child’s four-day pass priced at $70-$80. Discounts are available for advance online sales until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.
