Cheesy Feet

Kids will love these easy-to-bake savory biscuits cut into feet shapes and decorated with tiny red pepper or cherry tomato toenails!

Equipment

  • Nonstick parchment paper
  • Scissors
  • Large baking sheet
  • Foot-shaped pastry cutter or foot template. To make a foot template, get your little one to stand on a piece of cardstock; then draw the outline of his/her foot and cut out.
  • Knife
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour (for dusting only)
  • 12 oz. ready-to-bake puff pastry, thawed if frozen and taken out of the refrigerator 15 minutes before use
  • 1/2 red pepper or a few cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Directions

Makes: 9 feet | Prep time: 10–15 minutes; Cook time: 10 minutes

  1. 1. Set oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Sprinkle a little flour onto your work surface and remove puff pastry from wrapping. Unroll puff pastry carefully until it is flat, gently pressing it down with your fingers to flatten any creases or mend cracks.
  3. 3. With your little one serving as co-chef, cut out 9 foot shapes. Place them (spread apart) on the prepared baking sheet. [If using self-made template, instead of a cutter, lay the template on the dough and cut around it with a knife.]
  4. 4. Cut pepper or tomato into tiny “toenail” pieces using clean kitchen scissors.
  5. 5. Sprinkle the feet with grated “stinky” cheese. Then let your child press the pepper or tomato pieces onto the feet to create toenails.
  6. 6. Place the feet in pre-heated oven; cook 10–15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Carefully remove cheesy feet from oven and allow to cool on cooling rack.
