DIY Tug Toy

Don’t toss that old t-shirt! Snip it up to make a simple tug toy for your furry friend. Every dog loves to play both fetch and tug-of-war, so this craft combines the two in one DIY toy.

Supplies

  • 1 old t-shirt
  • 1 tennis ball
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Lay your t-shirt on a flat surface and mark off your cuts. You’ll want to make two pieces that are about 5-6 inches wide and also one thinner strip about 2 inches wide. Once you cut up your t-shirt, you’ll end up with three tube-like pieces. Simply snip each of them at one of the ends to make create long straps.
  2. Position the two wide strips in the shape of an X, and place the tennis ball in the middle.
  3. Wrap the ball with all layers. Gather the strips at the bottom of the ball. Using the thinner strip, tie a tight double knot to secure the fabric-wrapped ball. Now you should have four wide strips hanging from the base of your ball.
  4. Take one of the four wide strips and separate it from the rest. Cut this piece into three even sections.
  5. Braid the three newly cut strips until you near the bottom; then tie the ends with one of the strips. Snip the ends so they’re even. Repeat steps with the rest of the remaining strips of cloth.
