Restaurant news from throughout Greater Orlando

  • Disney Springs continues to see changes. A new Italian restaurant will join the property as a replacement for the recently closed Portobello Country Italian Trattoria. Headed by the James Beard Award-winning Chef Tony Mantuano, Terralina Crafted Italian is slated to open for business in the fall of 2017.
  • Orlando’s Magical Dining Month returns on August 25 and runs through October 1. This is the 12th year in a row that Orlando residents can take advantage of fine dining and choose from over 100 restaurants.   • Owner and operator of K Restaurant, Kevin Fonzo is selling his muchloved eatery to catering company owner Chad Phelps. Fonzo has specified that he will stay on temporarily to consult, but he plans to eventually shift focus toward his travel business. The restaurant’s name will stay the same, at least for the time being.
  • Downtown pub Frank & Steins and Winter Park restaurant PR’s Taco Palace both closed their doors this summer. Frank & Steins owner Pete Downing is planning to replace the hotdog eatery with a new food hall. PR’s Taco Palace owner Perry Inman attributes their closing to decreased revenue and difficulty with staff.
  • On October 28, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic will host a grand tasting with Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia. The event will showcase several rare vintages from the Piedmont region, and tickets, which are extremely limited, are priced at $300 per person.
