Restaurant news from throughout Greater Orlando
• Downtown Orlando is getting a new sushi spot this year. U Roll will be situated on E. Pine Street and plans to open its doors within the coming months. Customers will be able to order pre-made rolls or invent their very own creation for under $10.
• Popular speakeasy-style bar Herman’s Loan Office closed its doors in December after a two-year run. V Group Concepts operated the bar along with sister establishment Hanson’s Shoe Repair, and they intend to focus on new works for the Thornton Park area instead.
• Local Southern comfort-food restaurant Sonny’s BBQ has signed a one-year contract to take over all concession operations at the Central Florida Zoo. A new, redesigned building will be constructed on premises and guests will be able to stop by for ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and more during their visit.
• Manny’s Original Chophouse began construction on its newest addition, located in a plaza off S.R. 436 in Altamonte Springs. This will be its sixth 40 U Roll Sushi location in three counties and property owner Val Nasano is excited for guests to experience an expansive menu of steak, chicken, seafood, ribs, burgers and more.
• Winter Park residents now have a new place to indulge in meaty inventions with the Sausage Shack. Owners Dan Eastwood and Christopher Buxton are self-proclaimed aficionados who hope to entice customers with creative hot dogs, vegan offerings and a one-of-a-kind homemade mustard bar.
