IVF Innovators

The journey through infertility can be emotionally daunting to both individuals and couples alike. For the past 20 years, The IVF Center has been providing top-notch reproductive healthcare through its team of dedicated, empathetic, and empowering physicians and staff.

Founder and Director Dr. Mark Trolice is highly regarded among his medical colleagues and patients. Dr. Trolice’s passion for the field began in medical school during an obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) clinical rotation where he observed and interacted with fertility patients. “Clinging to their dreams, couples expressed myriad emotions from happiness to sorrow mixed with hope and frustration in a seemingly perpetual cycle,” recalls Dr. Trolice. “The feelings of connection and compassion I felt were both compelling and comforting, and they continue undeterred.”

Dr. Trolice’s firsthand experience with infertility has afforded him a deeper understanding of the very obstacles and heartbreak his patients face. “The emotional impact of an infertility diagnosis has been shown to be equivalent to a diagnosis of cancer. So, the devastation experienced by patients must be acknowledged while their care needs to be individualized given the complexity and uniqueness of each patient’s problem.” Dr. Trolice’s vast knowledge on infertility and reproductive hormonal problems of women has made him an expert in the field. But it is his caring approach that leaves the most profound and lasting impact on his patients. As he often reminds them, “The ability to procreate is gift by nature rather than an accomplished skill. Those struggling to build a family should never value their worth based on their fertility but rather by their character and contributions to others.”

With a mission to “transform the field of reproductive health by prioritizing the patient experience through extraordinary and innovative clinical care and by our commitment to education and research,” the practice is involved in cutting-edge research and is dedicated to the teaching of medical students and resident physicians. In addition to the latest technologies in fertility treatment options, storage systems of embryos, eggs and sperm, the center has also added artificial intelligence (AI) technology to act as an added tool in clinical decision-making, patient education, and communications.

The team and growth of The IVF Center are equally impressive. The practice recently welcomed Dr. Lucy Chen who is uniquely trained and the only physician in Florida who has undergone a double fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) as well as Medical Genetics. Of her chosen career path, Dr. Chen says, “I pursued the REI and medical genetics fellowships to help patients better understand complex genetic information, guide them through testing options and provide them with resources and support in making a decision that is best for them and their family.”

The use of genetic testing has been a real game-changer in the field of fertility and reproductive health care. “Preconception screening, or testing before pregnancy, can provide valuable information and the opportunity to pursue alternative reproductive options, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) with embryo chromosome/gene testing called preimplantation genetic testing (PGT),” explains Dr. Chen. She adds that genetic testing can also be used for diagnostic purposes such as “identifying a cause for female or male infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss or premature ovarian insufficiency (formerly called premature ovarian failure of early menopause), among others.”

Over the past two decades, The IVF Center has continued to apply the latest advances in reproductive technology while expanding their access to care in Central Florida. With an already well-established office in Winter Park, the practice opened it newest location in Lake Nona earlier this year, by the recent addition of world-renowned REI Laurel Stadtmauer MD, PhD who is a world-renowned expert in advanced reproductive 3D/4D ultrasound imaging. Like Dr. Trolice, Dr. Stadtmauer is also a Professor at the UCF College of Medicine where they both teach the next generation of physicians. More offices and healthcare providers are forthcoming.

Dr. Trolice stresses that The IVF Center is dedicated to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion to improve access to care for all patients, now uniquely offering their “shared risk” in-house financing program with no hard credit check, ensuring there is a path for everyone.

Choosing to start a family is a significant decision and navigating the options of how best to achieve that goal is a deeply personal choice. Before deciding if pursuing IVF is right for them, Dr. Trolice recommends that patients “vet the clinic by reading online reviews, speaking with their primary care physician and interviewing the fertility specialist about their experience and success rates.” Dr. Trolice recognizes the importance and personal care required along the road to family building. “While we cannot guarantee reproductive capability, but we do our best to ensure empathy in our patient-centered practice.”
