Trusted Care for the Entire Family

Family Medical Center brings 70+ years of expertise to comprehensive primary care to adolescents, adults and seniors with patient convenience built in every step of the way.

For families looking for quality, comprehensive primary care services in Orlando, Family Medical Center is their answer.

“Our quality of care is excellent. We have a very strong staff, and our doctors have been here for years and are part of the community,” Dr. E. Frank Delgado says.

Family Medical Center has been serving the SoDo district for decades, and its board-certified providers have more than 70 years of combined experience. The practice offers primary care services to the entire family, from adolescents to adults and seniors.

Dr. Jan Parrillo credits Family Medical Center’s success and longevity to its independence. “We are proud to be an independent, physician-owned primary care group,” he says.

“It requires us to really pay attention to expert clinical care,” Parrillo adds. “Also, the fact that we have been in business now probably close to 50 years and we have three physicians who are partners in this practice—those things make us a very stable practice and one that has been successful based on good patient care and reputation.”

A range of services
“From physicals to acute care, we are here to serve our patients and keep them healthy,” says Dr. Parrillo.

Aside from general care, services at Family Medical Center include: diabetes management, weight-loss management, cardiology, cognitive testing and sleep study support. The practice also offers bilingual care with one of its newer providers.

There are in-house X-rays and lab work at Family Medical Center, which Delgado says is not only convenient for patients, but helps with compliance.

“If we can offer the services in house, the patient is more apt to do them and more apt to do them the same day,” he says. “Family Medical Center is proud to offer same-day care. Access to health care is of the utmost importance and helps keep our patients out of the ER and well.”

“We have listened to our patients and are trying to cater to their needs,” adds Dr. Mitul Shah. “We have ideas on the horizon to better serve our community, including adding a full walk-in clinic on top of our same-day care model.”

Another huge bonus for patients—and one not found at many practices—is guaranteed same-day appointments. If a patient calls in the morning, a provider will be able to see them later that day.

“We believe that the best way to take care of the patient for an acute illness would be for them to be seen in their primary care office as opposed to going to an urgent care or emergency room,” Delgado says. “We have somebody on site who can always see them. We’re lucky enough to have the space and providers who can do it.”

The practice also has access to clinical trials and studies, which can help patients not finding relief for their ailments with traditional treatments.

“It benefits them if they have unusual medical conditions that are not controlled with medications or treatments that are available now,” Parrillo explains. “It gives them a chance to explore medications that are going through clinical trials, which may be a benefit to them.”

Patient-centered care
The understanding of needing expert care from a primary care doctor is important, and Shah says it is being recognized by patients more and more.

“You need to have a good patient-centered medical home,” he says. “The patient is in the middle, and everything is around that—the testing, the staff, the providers. It’s a proactive approach to health.”

The team at Family Medical Center understands that going to the doctor can be an anxiety-inducing situation for many people. Delgado says building trust with your patients and ensuring you have a great staff that’s committed and experienced—from front desk to medical professionals—is key to easing this anxiety.

“Once they get to know the office, once they come here, they’ll see all the familiar people,” Shah adds. “They see the same people—doctors, physicians, providers, nurses, the support staff, the managers. It creates a family-oriented approach.”

Being a family practice has also led to generational longevity among patients, something Parrillo considers a privilege. We see ages

“I’ve taken care of young adults who have become more mature adults. I’ve taken care of their children and now even some of their grandchildren,” he says. “That’s an honor. That’s the way primary care used to be and, I think, still is at our practice.”
