A Family Affair
At Oxford Advisory Group, brothers Chris and Sam Dixon help clients reach a fulfilling retirement at a firm that continues to extend its influence throughout Florida.

Chris and Sam Dixon are far from alone in the fact that they witnessed a loved one suffer dire financial consequences as a result of the Great Recession in 2008. What makes the brothers different from most, however, is that they were inspired to do something about it.
Having seen their beloved grandmother lose a significant portion of the savings she had worked so hard to accumulate through no fault of her own, the Dixons were fueled to take their complementary talents and use them to help others. They eventually formed their own independent financial services firm, Oxford Advisory Group, which has grown to nine locations in Florida and has experienced continued success in the 11 years since it was founded.
“That story about our Nana getting hit hard in the 2008 recession is core to why Chris and I started Oxford Advisory Group,” Sam says. “It wasn’t just a financial loss for her—it was the stress and uncertainty it caused after a lifetime of hard work. We carry that with us every day. When we sit down with clients, we treat them like family, like we’d want someone to treat our grandmother. That means being honest, transparent, and always putting their best interests first—no product pushing. It keeps us motivated to dig deep into strategies aimed to minimize taxes, maximize income, and provide peace of mind.”
Offering a wide range of services, including wealth management and investment guidance, Oxford Advisory Group is a full-fledged planning firm that aims to go above and beyond just managing retirement accounts. Instead, its team works tirelessly to build a rapport with clients and devise a detailed, long-term blueprint for retirement that is tailored specifically to each person who walks through the door.
“That’s critically important because retirement planning is highly personal,” Chris says. “Goals, timelines, family dynamics, health expectations, and even lifestyle preferences all affect the right strategy. We spend time listening and educating so we can better tailor everything—tax planning, income distribution, estate strategies—to their individual situation. This customization aims to help avoid common mistakes like running out of money too soon or paying unnecessary taxes. It turns a generic 401(k) rollover into a comprehensive plan designed for longevity and their specific version of a fulfilling retirement.”
With a staff who have a passion for treating clients like family members, Oxford has set out to change the landscape in financial planning. The firm has plans to keep growing throughout the state, so the team can reach even more clients with the same approach. It’s all about educating clients and treating each meeting like a financial checkup in which they diagnose and analyze any potential issues.
“Many retirees come in worried—about market volatility, inflation, health care costs or policy changes,” Sam says. “The economy has thrown curveballs lately, and it’s natural to feel uncertain. We aim to ease those concerns through education and clear communication. We run detailed analyses, show them stress-tested scenarios and focus on strategies aimed to provide buffers (like diversified income streams and tax efficiency). Most importantly, we build ongoing relationships so they see progress and adjustments in real time. That knowledge and proactive planning may help shift mindsets from fear to optimism—many leave feeling empowered and excited about their future.”
When Oxford is able to help and get clients on track for a secure future, there is no better feeling. Some clients may live meagerly in retirement because of fear they will run out of money. Oxford works toward unlocking possibilities they were unaware of and with plans aimed at longevity, they may actually increase their spending.
“It’s incredibly rewarding—one of the best parts of what we do,” Chris says. “When a client who was hesitant or living frugally realizes they can comfortably spend more, travel, or enjoy time with family without fear, it’s transformative. We’ve seen people light up when they understand their plan will support the retirement they dreamed of. It brings peace of mind, joy and often stronger family legacies. Guiding them there, step by step, and watching them thrive is why we do this work.”
It’s easy to understand how both brothers have already been inducted into the Advisor’s Excel Hall of Fame, an honor usually bestowed upon those with two decades or more in the industry. Oxford Advisory Group has received numerous awards as a firm, as well, and is the official wealth management partner of the University of Central Florida and Florida State University.
But as impressive as those accolades are, nothing beats helping someone achieve his or her dreams for retirement, whether that be traveling, spoiling grandchildren or pursuing new hobbies. And as the firm continues to expand, that assistance will only grow.
“I’m very optimistic and excited about where Oxford Advisory Group is headed,” Sam says. “We’ve grown thoughtfully, expanded our reach to serve more markets while staying true to our roots in personalized retirement education and planning. The partnerships in the community have been fantastic—they allow us to give back and connect with more people who need solid guidance. Continuing to innovate in tax strategies and client service while scaling responsibly feels like the right direction. We’re positioned to help thousands more families, and that keeps me energized.”
