Best of the Best 2025

There’s lots to love about the Greater Orlando area, and its diversity of options—from global cuisine to aesthetic services, from shopping destinations to recreational activities—certainly ranks high on that ever-growing list. Having so much right in our backyard can also make it a little overwhelming to decide where to go and what to do, though, which is why we’re delighted to share our annual roundup highlighting some can’t-miss places adding to the vibrancy and variety of the region we call home.

FOOD & DRINK

DOUGHNUTS at The Salty Donut
Forget the boring, traditional doughnut flavors you’ve had a million times and order a dozen from The Salty’s delightful assortment for the office, your child’s sleepover or your next holiday party. The daring selections include Toasted Coquito, Pistachio Cannoli, Butterbeer, Guava & Cheese, and many more.

PIZZA at SoDough Square
While New York-style round pies have long dominated the Orlando food scene, the Detroit-style square pizza offered at SoDough has arguably emerged as the most popular in the area. Founded by Motor City native Robert Bair, the pizza here regularly sells out because of limited dough and high demand, so be sure to place your order early.

SANDWICHES at Pammie’s Sammies
Rock out at Pammie’s—a friendly, familiar shop highlighted by musical décor—and enjoy a menu that includes old favorites such as French dip and grilled cheese as well as creative originals like Who’s Your Daddy?, which smothers pan-fried bologna with melted American cheese and crushed Fritos on toasted ciabatta bread.

FLATBREADS at Teak Neighborhood Grill
Regularly celebrated for its 37 signature burgers—including previously in this publication—Teak is not just a one-trick pony. Its inspired menu contains a range of options perfect for date night or a gathering with friends, including unique flatbreads that can be shared or kept to yourself.

BRUNCH at The Stubborn Mule
Approaching its 10th birthday, this playful eatery featuring craft cocktails and a New American menu continues to be a hit for all occasions, including weekend brunch. Where else can you order a burger with smoked Gouda on a waffle bun or a poached egg with pulled pork and arugula on an English muffin?

PIES at Winter Park Pie Company
Founder and head baker Teri Blais believes that pie is for sharing, and at the urging of her friends and family, she started sharing her homemade classics with the masses after opening her company in 2020. Perfect for holiday season or any time of the year, all of the traditional favorites are available, plus new ones you’re sure to love.

WINE SHOP at Maggie’s Attic
Oenophiles and casual wine lovers alike have been flocking to Maggie’s Attic in Downtown Mount Dora since 2003 to bask in the friendly atmosphere, pick the brains of the knowledgeable staff and discover new varieties. Wine-tasting events are especially popular and are held on the first and third Saturday of every month.

CHEESECAKE at Lake Mary Cheesecake
The best cheesecakes provide a harmony of flavors, and Lake Mary Cheesecake certainly achieves that goal with both its traditional and inventive offerings. It’s no wonder that a wide range of businesses—including restaurants, theme parks and hotels—have been counting on them for delectable desserts for more than a quarter century.

PASTRIES at The Glass Knife
A combination café/bakery, The Glass Knife is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but be sure to save room for dessert no matter what time you drop by. We love their seasonal selections, such as the Pumpkin Pastry or Candied Caramel Apple Pastry, but it’s hard to pass on the Chocolate Onyx Pastry and its mixture of chocolate mousse, coffee crunch and salted caramel atop a shortbread crust.

CAKES at Sugar Diva’s
Any celebration—whether a wedding, a first birthday party or a holiday gathering—is elevated with a cake from Sugar Diva’s. Owner Clare Otto and her team focus on every last detail to create showstoppers, like their 3D cakes with movie or sports themes, and the best part is they taste just as good as they look.

BAR FOOD at Tori Tori
Most people hear the term “bar food” and immediately think of wings and nachos, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Chef/owner Sean “Sonny” Nguyen takes the concept to another level at his Japanese pub with items like Lamb Karubi Lollipops, Blue Crab & Corn Croquettes, and Garlic Fried Rice.

BARBECUE at Smokemade Meats + Eats
After three years of selling out pop-ups throughout the area, owner and pitmaster Tyler Brunache now has a brick-and-mortar location to highlight his authentic Central Texas-inspired barbecue. With a focus on wood-smoked meats cooked low and slow, the offerings include brisket, pulled pork, turkey breast, pork spare ribs and housemade sausages.

QUESADILLAS at The Pass Kitchen
Whether seeking out his food truck at a local event or brewery, ordering curbside pickup or looking for catering services, do not “pass” on chef Guillermo Herrera’s scrumptious quesadillas. They come in seven varieties, including Argentinian Shrimp, Carnitas, Birria Beef and Chicken Tinga.

SHARED PLATES at The Drake Kitchen + Bar
Tapas dining appeals to many foodies because of its social nature and the opportunity it provides to try multiple dishes, and The Drake is an ideal spot to enjoy the experience. Chefs/owners Heberto and Rona Segura have a menu that is always evolving and highlights locally sourced ingredients while being inspired by global cuisine.

ICE CREAM at Kelly’s Ice Cream
Ice cream has been a lifelong passion for owner Kelly Seidl, who got hooked while visiting her uncle’s dairy farm as a little girl. As her business has experienced tremendous growth from humble beginnings, what hasn’t changed is her commitment to high-quality, affordable treats, from the classic flavors everyone grew up with to originals like O-Dough: white chocolate ice cream layered with Oreos and chocolate chip cookie dough.

BREAKFAST SANDWICHES at Deli Desires
What started as a delivery business during the pandemic has evolved into a thriving Mills 50 takeout shop that is especially popular for breakfast on the go. Options include bacon, egg and cheese, latke and scrapple, but the real stars are the house-made bialys the sandwiches come on, such as caramelized onion, smoked jalapeño and Muenster, and garlic confit with everything spice.

MILKSHAKES at Alien Treats FL
You don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to enjoy an otherworldly milkshake. Right in Downtown Orlando, this space-themed shop is serving up a long list of tasty treats that blend ice cream, candy and cereal in creative fashion, or you can always come up with your own concoction.

SALADS at 903 Mills Market
Billing itself as “your friendly neighborhood deli,” 903 Mills Market backs that claim up with an extensive menu that has something for everyone. Many of the 903 salads come in half or full options, and range from Lake Lancaster Chicken Fajita to Crystal Lake BLT Ranch and Lake Como Chef.

COOKIES at Gideon’s Bakehouse
Gideon’s has earned quite the reputation thanks to its half-pound cookies made fresh every day and a menu featuring longtime favorites (we highly recommend the banana bread chocolate chip) and limited-edition offerings that attract crowds to its East End Market and Disney Springs locations.

COFFEE at But First … Coffee Shop
Whether you’re looking for a quality crafted cup of Joe or something more creative like a Salted Caramel Apple Butter latte, you’ll find it all and then some at this stellar café that also serves up delightful pastries and solid breakfast options.

BAO BUNS at King Bao
We love this place for its inventive takes on the traditional Chinese bao. The pillowy, cloud-like buns are the vessel for an assortment of fillings like elote, firecracker shrimp, hoisin barbecue ribs, hot chicken and much more.

SIGNATURE COCKTAILS at The Edison
The vibe here may scream 1920s prohibition-era, but the cocktail list is anything but stuck in the past. Think single-barrel Buffalo Trace blended with pear brandy, lemon juice and a honey cordial or Patron Extra Anejo mixed with amaro liqueur, mole bitters, demerara and a pinch of salt.

PAD THAI at Hawkers Asian Street Food
Hawkers certainly did not invent this dish, but they have done their very best to perfect it. Rice noodles, chicken and shrimp are harmoniously combined with a flavorful red chili pepper sauce along with eggs and vegetables before being finished with roasted peanuts and squeezes of fresh lime.

CATERING at Levan’s Catering
When your special occasion calls for special food and drink, Levan’s has been the place to turn for more than five decades. With remarkable service and customizable menus that feature diverse options, your guests are sure to be buzzing long after the event ends.

FAMILY STYLE TAKEOUT at Christini’s Ristorante Italiano
One of the area’s premier dining establishments also cooks up mouthwatering meals to enjoy at home, making tonight’s dinner plans a no-brainer. Start with a salad before moving onto larger plates like rigatoni and sausage in cream sauce or Chicken Marsala; just be sure to leave room for one of the five dessert options.

SURF AND TURF at Gyukatsu Rose
If you’re looking for a unique twist on a land-and-sand dish, this is the place. Exquisite cuts of wagyu and extremely fresh tuna are breaded, deep fried and served with plenty of sides—including the must-try Calabrian pepper relish and house pickles—to make each bite a memorable one.

CHARCUTERIE BOARDS at Formaggio & Friends
This inviting wine bar with extensive Italian and American selections in its arsenal allows visitors to specially curate their own charcuterie boards to pair beautifully with their choice of vino, choosing from an impressive list of artisanal meats and cheeses from around the globe.

WINGS at Domu
Sure, you may come to Domu for the award-winning ramen, but no visit is complete without an order of their crispy-crunchy wings that are lathered with a kimchi butter sauce and topped with sesame seeds for added texture. Trust us, you will not be disappointed.

CUBAN SANDWICHES at Cuban Sandwiches To Go
This unassuming spot with a straightforward name has become beloved by foodies near and far who make regular trips just to nosh on the authentic Cuban sandwiches that rival any you’ll taste in the state of Florida.

OYSTERS at Victorio’s Oyster Bar and Grille
No matter if you like your oysters freshly shucked, fried or baked Rockefeller-style, Victorino’s has long been the place to belly up to the bar and dive right in. Just don’t forget to add a couple dashes of the homemade hot sauce for good measure.

HOT CHICKEN at Chicken Fire
If you like your poultry to pack a little punch, we’ve found just what you’re looking for. Buttermilk-fried chicken tenders are coated in a fiery sauce—you choose how much you want to crank up the heat—and deliver great taste and flavor instead of just setting your taste buds ablaze.

LATIN FOOD at Sofrito Latin Café
Latin cuisine from varying countries populates the menu at Sofrito, with standouts including the shredded chicken and Gouda arepa, the wonderfully seasoned pernil and the Peruvian-style salmon with garlic, honey and yellow chili pepper paste.

BAKED POTATOES at Mrs. Potato
Each Idaho potato baked here is hand selected before being stuffed and smothered with a dizzying array of toppings that range from the familiar to more distinctive choices like the Filet Mignon Stroganoff or pulled chicken with Brazilian soft cheese.

RAMEN at Nifty’s Korean BBQ & Ramen
Each steaming bowl of Ramen coming out of the kitchen is rich and layered with tantalizing flavors that only further add to the complexity of the dish. We’re partial to the fragrant and intoxicating curry coconut variety with shrimp.

MEDITERRANEN at Mediterranean Deli
Gryos may be the Mediterranean Deli’s specialty—and it’s easy to see why—but don’t overlook the menu’s other highlights like the beef and chicken kabobs, tabbouleh, falafel and the delicate and delicious spinach pie.

BAKERY at Bakery 1908
With both Asian and European influences, this bakery excels where tradition meets ingenuity. We are talking bun breads filled with Bavarian custard, cookies cloaked in sesame seeds, matcha puff pastries and loaves of bread piped full of red bean paste.

SMOOTHIES at Park Avenue Smoothie Café
You can never go wrong with any of the choices at this Winter Park haunt thanks to solid choices like the dragon fruit, pineapple and banana, or the mango, banana, and strawberry with chocolate chips and peanut butter.

MACARONS at Le Macaron
The mother-daughter team behind this shop spent time working with a French-trained pastry chef to master the art of the macaron and that attention to detail is evident with every bite into one of the stunning flavors like the Sicilian Pistachio, Lemon Cream or Ginger Chocolate.

BREWERY at Sideward Brewing
With an approachable tap list of both core and rotating brews that cover many styles, a more than respectable list of sandwiches and snacks, and a killer staff that makes you feel right at home, this is our preferred place to grab a couple pints.
