Chocolate Covered Cherries

Sweets for your sweetie! If you like chocolate covered cherries, you will LOVE these. They are better than store bought and made with love! Make a batch for your Valentine.

  • 1/3 cup butter, softenedCherries_feature
  • 1 (7 oz) jar marshmallow cream
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 60-65 maraschino cherries with stems
  • 12 squares almond bark
  1. Beat butter until creamy.  Add marshmallow cream and almond extract. Gradually add powdered sugar.  The mixture will be very thick.
  2. Chill in freezer 10 minutes.
  3. Blot cherries on a paper towel, getting as much moisture off as possible.
  4. Pinch off a small piece of the cream mixture and roll in a small ball.  Flatten and wrap around one cherry. If your hands become sticky, dust them with powdered sugar.
  5. Melt the chocolate over double boiler.
  6. Holding the cherries by the stem, dip them into the melting chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drain off.
  7. Sprinkle with colored sugar, if desired, while chocolate is still melted.
  8. Place on lightly greased wax paper.
  9. Make at least one day ahead of when you plan to serve them; This allows a liquid to form inside (the best part)!
  10. DO NOT refrigerate. DO NOT store in sealed plastic containers. They are best stored in boxes or candy tins, something NOT airtight.
  11. Will keep indefinitely or as long as you can resist them.
