Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake

Mothers' Milk Bank of Florida is having a fundraising 5k fun run / 2 mile family walk to help raise money to develop a donor human milk bank in Florida.  Donor human milk is life saving to premature and sick babies in the hospital and at home when their mothers' own milk is not available.  Florida currently does not have a milk bank.   There are only eleven donor human milk banks in the United States from which hospitals can purchase donor human milk for their fragile and preterm babies.  The closest milk bank to Florida is located in North Carolina.   Existing milk banks are experiencing shortages of donor human milk supply which puts the lives and health of babies at risk.  It is vital that Florida has its own milk bank. Mothers' Milk Bank of Florida will operate under the guidelines of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. milkbankofflorida.org
