Convenient Care

Community Health Centers is dedicated to making its patients’ lives more efficient with a new feature that will make it easier to access its comprehensive range of health services.

With 16 locations throughout Central Florida, Community Health Centers (CHC) is continuing its passion for helping working families stay healthy. Offering services such as pediatrics, family medicine, dental, optometry, behavioral health, ob/gyn and its new full self-scheduling option, CHC is keeping its promise of being the area’s most trusted health provider. They even offer telemedicine.

Through the launch of the full self-scheduling option, CHC is taking a step toward further modernizing health care access, making it more convenient, accessible and patient-centered.

“People will have the ability 24 hours a day, seven days a week to book an appointment from any device,” explains John Riordan, CHC’s marketing and community relations director. “Anyone that’s been sick, has a family member, a child or parent that gets sick—it often happens at inopportune times. This full self-scheduling gives them the ability to look at the schedule and see appointment availability, even for same day or next day appointments.”

For patients, this means no more waiting on hold during business hours or scrambling to schedule an appointment when sickness strikes. Whether it’s a sudden eye exam or a routine check-up, this self-scheduling option puts control in the hands of the patient.

Self-scheduling itself is a response to the evolving expectations of the health care industry. In a society where online banking, deliveries to doorsteps and virtual meetings are the norm, patients can expect the same convenience from their health care providers as well.

“Health care continues to evolve, and our patients increasingly expect the same convenient digital experience they receive in other parts of their lives. This is an exciting milestone for Community Health Centers because it makes accessing care easier, faster and more convenient for the communities we serve,” Riordan says. “Full self-scheduling is part of it, but patients would be able to complete their forms online as well. They’ll receive the appointment reminders on their devices, check-in for their appointment and if they want to pay their bill online they can too. Just to make it a little easier on our patients, the accessibility to our health services is just so much easier.”

This shift isn’t just about technology for its own sake, it’s about reducing obstacles that prevent individuals from getting the proper care they require. For working parents, employees or anyone with a busy schedule, the ability to book, reschedule or cancel appointments at any time removes stress.

Recent expansions have also been added to the Apopka location, which include new exam rooms for family medicine, ob/gyn, behavioral health and optometry. This has made the location a comprehensive health care space to ensure it receives the same resources and care as the others.

“We have offered optometry for more than 10 years now and we recently added the service, along with behavioral health, at our Apopka center. As we’re growing as an organization, we’ve expanded our services,” Riordan says. “Our goal is to provide a consistent, high-quality experience for every patient, regardless of which Community Health Centers location they visit. Whether you’re seen in Apopka, Winter Garden, Pine Hills or any of our other health centers, you can expect access to the same exceptional care and comprehensive services”.

Community Health Centers’ commitment to convenience doesn’t stop at scheduling. They also offer telemedicine for most services. In addition to their medical services, they offer in-house pharmacies and labs to simplify care for their patients.

“We like to think of ourselves as a one-stop shop,” Riordan exclaims. “We have our own pharmacies, labs, X-ray, etc. You don’t have to run across town and go to a pharmacy a few miles down the road. Before you leave, you can stop at our pharmacy and pick up your prescriptions. We even offer mail order of prescriptions too for those that have prescription refills—they can call or go online, and we will mail the patient their prescription. The best part is that we pay for the postage.”

This is beneficial for families who often struggle to coordinate multiple appointments across different locations. By consolidating services, CHC saves families time, reduces stress and ensures continuity of care.

The launch of full self-scheduling, combined with expanded services, emphasizes CHC’s mission of making health care accessible for all. In an era where accessibility is a growing concern, Community Health Centers is positioning itself as a leader in patient-centered care making it more efficient and accessible for all.
